Obituary
Joseph (After Dad) "Joe" (as adult) "Joey" (as child) Richard (After Grampa) Thell
November 29, 1981 - November 14, 2008

Joseph R. Thell, age 26 of Liberty Hill, Texas. Joe passed away at home on November 14, 2008, with family and a good friend by his side. Joe was born on November 29, 1981, in St. Paul, Minnesota, to Joe and Linda Thell. Joe attended high school in Mercer, Pennsylvania, where he learned his special ability to create flawless wood working projects. He moved back to Texas in 1999 and graduated from Lago Vista High School in 2000. Joe also learned to play the drums. He so enjoyed the jam sessions in his home with a good friend. Joe loved sports of all kinds. He was a huge fan of the Texas Longhorns. He must have collected every different Longhorn Tshirt designed. His special, personalized, jersey lay draped across him during his final days. For living such a short life, Joe could touch a heart in an instant. One smile and you were hooked for life. Joe was preceded in death by his grandfather, Mike Thell, grandparents Richard and Garnet Podewils, and good friend Jeff. He is survived by his loving mother, Linda Crawley; his father, Joe Thell and his wife Darlene; his sister, Kelly Cantwell and her husband Albert, sister, Tina Thell; brother, Cory Thell; nephew, Caleb Cantwell; niece, Kinsley Cantwell; his Aunt Sue and Uncles Rich, Mike, Henry, Marty; and grandmother, Doris Nelson. Countless friends and the extra special people in his life - you know who you are. He also had three special dogs. Many thanks to Odyssey Healthcare for providing amazing Hospice Care and his very special Doctors that have cared for and followed Joe through his journey. Joe's memorial service will be on Thursday, November 20, 2008, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Hutto, Texas, at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to The National Ataxia Foundation. The family will be wearing Burnt Orange in honor of Joe's love for UT. Feel free to wear yours too.
